2027 Municipal Election - Candidate Petitions Available
April 2027 Consolidated Municipal Election Guide - Village of Tiskilwa
Petition packets for the April 6, 2027 Consolidated Municipal Election are now available for pick up at the Village Office located at 223 W. Main Street. Office hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 9-4. Arrangements can be made for collection outside of these hours by contacting any member of the Village Board.
The elected officials serving on the village board are the Village President, 6 Trustees, and the Village Clerk. The 6 trustee positions serve for 4 year terms, with three of the seats being open every two years. The Village President and Village Clerk also serve 4 year terms. When a seat becomes open during a 4 year term, the Village President can appoint an individual to serve out the remainder of the term until the next municipal election. In this instance we have two trustee seats, and the president seat falling into that category.
---------------------------------
The following board seats will be on the April 2027 ballot in Tiskilwa:
1 seat - Unexpired Term / Village President (2 year term)
This is the position of mayor in the Village of Tiskilwa.
2 seats - Unexpired Term / Village Trustee (2 year term)
Two of the current board members were appointed mid-term, so these seats are automatically on the ballot for the remaining two years of the term as explained above. In the next municipal election (April 2029) these seats will again be on the ballot, returning to the standard 4 year term.
3 seats - Village Trustee (4 year term)
Standard 4 year term.
-------------------------------
When filling out your candidate petition, you MUST decide which position you are running for, and note on your petition whether your candidacy is for the Unexpired Village President, Unexpired Village Trustee (2 year term) or the regular position of Village Trustee (4 year term.)
Important Dates:
Signature Collection - each petition must include the signatures of a minimum of 8, and a maximum of 58 residents within the Village of Tiskilwa municipal boundary. No signatures can be collected prior to Aug. 25, 2026.
Petition Filing Period - completed petition packets should be returned to the Village Clerk at the Village of Tiskilwa office located at 223 W. Main Street between Nov. 16 and Nov. 23, 2026. All paperwork needs to be notarized, which can be completed by the Village Clerk at the time of submission as our current Village Clerk is a notary.
