Water Update

Tiskilwa Residents -

A piece of equipment at of our water plant, an aeration tank, has been down for maintenance. The maintenance was completed but we have had some difficulty bringing the equipment back online.

Work was performed today and will continue tomorrow, and the aeration tank should be back online tomorrow afternoon.

This tank oxidizes the iron in the water, which is then filtered out in the next step of the treatment process. This tank not being operational is believed to be the primary culprit with our cloudy water issues of late.

We did some testing on our filtration system today as well, and one of the four filters has been taken offline for further examination. Some maintenance will be performed on this filter tomorrow with the hopes of bringing it back online. If further action is required that work will commence as soon as possible. Bypassing this filter slows our flow rates through the plant slightly, but is not expected to result in a daily shortage of supply.

After the aeration tank is back online the hydrants will be flushed. Once this operation is complete, we anticipate the water conditions to return to normal.

Further updates will continue to be posted on the village website, Tiskilwa.gov.
